INTERACTION EMAIL DIGEST

Role:

UX Designer

Duration:

6 months

UX Tools:

Figma

Final Prototype

Summary:

InterAction is one of the many web products released by Lexis Nexis. It acts as a client relationship builder tool, as well as firm management tool. The newest addition to the product, the email digest, would allow users to get a preview of their day, or week, in a concise form. The email will include a range of information, from the daily or weekly meetings to the daily or weekly due tasks, in addition to much more.

Problem:

For this particular piece of the product our team wanted to figure out what is important to include in the email digest. We had to test and decide between personal meetings, tasks, news pieces, company relationships, and more.

Because this is an existing product, we decided to create a prototype, present it to the users, and edit in or out information afterwards.

Project Overview

User Research

Research Objectives:

•Understand the value of a pre-meeting report email

•Identify what information is most valuable to include within a pre-meeting report email

•Determine whether users prefer one email per meeting or one combined email for all meetings in a day

Research Setup:

Method: Survey

Demographics: 70 attorneys who meet with clients at least once a month. Due to difficulty of recruiting InterAction users, we also recruited non-InterAction users who meet with clients.

•10 InterAction users

•60 non-InterAction users (that use other LexisNexis products)

Results

•Overall, this feature seems valuable for InterAction users who meet with clients.

•Consider prioritizing upcoming appointments and meeting details.

•Consider deprioritizing company details, opportunities, and news.

•Consider adding sections for relevant documents and notes from prior meetings.

•Regarding one combined email for multiple meetings, respondents were concerned about information overload and data confidentiality. Regarding separate emails for each meeting, respondents were concerned about cluttering their inbox and missing emails.

◦Consider implementing a single email digest with just high-level information about each meeting, but links to individual meeting reports within the product that would contain more in-depth information.
